  • Plenty of Areas to Discover in Palmetto, Florida!

Close to St Pete, Ana Maria Beach, Sarasota, and Tampa, Palmetto puts you close to anything you'd like to explore! There are many trails and preserves. And, nearby world-class beaches include Anna Maria Island (9 miles), and the #1-rated Siesta Key beach is a short 16-mile drive away.  The Palmetto Living Seawall Park provides a fishing pier (the old Green Bridge) and a public boat ramp. There are parks for hiking, playgrounds, skate parks, and more. Here are some of our favorites: Sutton Park, Bradenton Riverwalk, Emerson Point Park, and Robinson Preserve, to name a few.

The mile-wide Manatee River offers great fishing, boating, paddling, and restaurants along its 36-mile trek from upper Northern Manatee county to the Gulf. You'll often spot dolphins, manatees, horseshoe crabs, and stingrays too! Boaters will love being able to get to Egmont Key or Beans Point at the End of Ana Maria or eat at all the waterfront restaurants. You don't have to live on the Manatee River to enjoy its tranquil pleasures. Public parks offer plenty of access.

  • The Palmetto Historic District

With a rich history and old Florida charm, Palmetto is surrounded by Terra Ceia Bay and the Manatee River's waters. It was first settled in 1868 by Samuel Sparks Lamb, a merchant from South Carolina - the Palmetto State.

There are over 200 historic buildings in the district, most single-family homes. The district also contains Palmetto Historical Park, located at the southwest corner of 10th Avenue West and 6th Street West, which features several historic buildings. Notable are Heritage Station, Palmetto's first free-standing post office, built-in 1880; the Cottage Museum in a turn-of-the-century cottage; the Cypress House, which hosts a military Museum; and the 1914 Carnegie Library, one of the first libraries built in South Florida.

Creative attention to detail in preserving history is prevalent throughout the historic district.

William Ryan Homes

a History of Excellence

Growing up in a family that started building homes in 1925, I knew early on what profession I would choose. At the same time, I was determined to make my own mark in the field, envisioning a company that would take the family tradition of delivering value and personal service to new heights, larger markets, and an ever wider variety of home buyers.
